This retreat is an introduction to mindfulness meditation that works for everyone, even the busiest of minds.

This one-day retreat will enable you to:

  • Understand the theoretical foundations of mindfulness meditation
  • Practice and learn several mindfulness meditation techniques, so that everyone leaves with at least one that works for them.
  • Return home rested, relaxed and motivated to incorporate 6 to 10 minutes of meditation into your daily routine and feel the benefits of a regular practice.
This course is designed for people who:
  • Have no previous meditation experience;
  • Want to get back into meditation;
  • Want to learn more about the foundations of meditation.


  • Free time to enjoy activities and facilities
  • 10:00 – noon: Meditation class with Laurence (Lac Orford room)
  • noon – 1pm: Group lunch
  • 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Free time to enjoy the facilities, forest trails or on-site activities
  • 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Meditation class with Laurence (Lac Orford room)

To maximize your comfort, the class is given on cushioned chairs. There are also meditation benches and cushions available.

Laurence Mercier
Laurence completed a PhD in engineering at McGill University, where her research focused on brain imaging. She then worked in the private sector a corporate environment for a few years, and it was there that her passion for teaching meditation was born in 2013, when she began offering lunchtime classes to her colleagues.
In March 2014, she made a big shift and decided to leave the world of engineering research to teach mindfulness meditation full time! She completed her certification as a meditation teacher at the McLean Meditation Institute in Arizona. Since 2014, she has been taking mindfulness everywhere: into businesses, government offices, hospitals, libraries, and more. Laurence is now also a Qi Gong teacher (Ren Xue system).
Over the years, she has offered numerous retreats at Spa Eastman, a place she adores. Laurence is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher. Her approach is flexible and gentle, adapting to the needs of each individual. To learn more, visit her website:
