To know a bit more about the habits to have a glowing skin thanks to the sun’s rays, the Spa Eastman Marketing team had spoken to Émilie Huppé, one of her beauticians to know all her secrets for a radiant skin without it being damaged by the sun.
In her opinion, the key to success exfoliation, sunscreen, and hydration. Add to that a few products on Boutique that she suggests, and we obtain a dreamy skin for summer.
But First, Is Sun Good or Bad?
In these times of hot summer temperatures, sun exposure is difficult to avoid. Despite all the things that we hear about UV rays, and their danger to our health, it is important to know that this star of our solar system has many benefits for our body.
As it is mentioned in Le livre qui fait du bien, the sunlight stimulates the thyroid and pineal glands. Also, when it goes through the eye, it attempts numbers of neurotransmitters in the brain, for example, serotonin who’s a mood-regulating who also governs the melatonin creation.
By the way, get some sun activate digestive enzymes and blood and lymphatic circulation, increase vitamins D production, and promotes the elimination of toxins through the skin. Effectively, infrared rays wrap the body in a healing warmth and clean it up from his sweat, heavy metals and waste put back in circulation in the activated lymph.
En premier, l’exfoliation !
To allow our skin to capture a maximum of benefits, it all starts by exfoliation. It allows to remove all of the dead skin and to equalize the skin, allowing you to have a refined skin tone who will be able to receive creams and other products that you will appy to rehydrate your skin.

Protect from Sun… In a Responsible Way
Of course, your number one ally on hot summer days is your sunscreen, especially after an exfoliation where you have a brand-new skin easy to damage.
When it comes the time to make a sunscreen choice, be vigilant it is not because a lot of sunscreens are available on the market, but it is not because the sun protection factor (SPF) is higher that the benefits for your skin are better. What Émilie suggest is a mineral sunscreen with an SPF 30 with a broad spectrum, that means that it provides a defense against UVA and UVB rays. With an SPF of this concentration, you can still get some sun, but it will stop the worst effects on your skin like early aging, pigment spots and of course sunburns.
Be sure to have a sunscreen with the most naturel ingredients possible. Look for sunscreen that contains the following ingredients: PARSOL® 1789 alias avobenzone, Mexoryl SX, titan oxide and zinc oxide who are all effective natural ingredients and avoid the ones who contain allergen ingredients like PABA, padinate, etc.
The last thing to take in consideration is the expiration date on the bottle. It is not there by accident; we must respect it. Also, when you are exposed to the sun, never forget to put sunscreen every two hours.
But cream is not everything… There are other ways to protect our skin from sun rays. Wear a hat, sunglasses, long, but light clothes and do not expose yourself at the sun for too long, that’s all-good ways to protect yourself.
Hydration: the key to success
Once the sun exposition is over, we must think about hydration. Apply a moisturizing cream or an aloe vera gel becomes important because as well as keep the skin hydrated, it allows you to keep your skin tone longer.
For summer, the use of a hydrating mist can be an interesting option because it is fresh fir the skin, easy to use and it also fixes the make-up. Little tip, you can keep it in the fridge for a max of freshness at application.
